Had the same message some 2 weeks ago.
Was told I really had to come in for service because this could result in breakdown.
Volvo dealer said they had to replace a 'heater'.
When I asked I got somewhat of an unsatisfactory answer about the heater managing battery temperature.
I decided to leave it at that.
Regardless, the car has been fine since, message didn't show up anymore.
Software was upgraded to the latest version, but my map on the display behind the steering wheel disappeared :(.
Kind of frowned upon that, guessing it will probably return again at some stage …
Amazing how easily I accept the quirks of this car

Did you try changing the dashboard view? There are 3 views, only one of which shows the map - use the button on the bottom left of the right side button cluster on the steering wheel to change views.

They were referring to the High Voltage Coolant Heater (HVCH) - have a search on the forum as there are lots of posts where earlier cars needed this part replacing. You must have a relatively early car (probably delivered before last October or November?). I'm surprised it hasn't been changed already via a recall...

Ah , OK, the heater being the HVCH, didn't make that link.
well yes, I thought that was done during the recall couple weeks earlier.
Or they switched it twice.
Car was delivered early November.

Yes I tried changing the dashboard view, the map view was just black.
But guess what, It reappeared again miraculously a couple days ago (not making it up)

If they swapped the HVCH then it's possible they didn't bleed the coolant system properly for the batteries afterwards - there have been a few cases where this has happened and resulted in a bunch of error codes on the dashboard. If they re-bleed the system (properly) then the problem should go away. I'm guessing it's because an air bubble sits on the sensor so it gets a nonsensical value.

Got this and the turtle today about 6:15 pm (had gotten home, collected the husband, and were going to go out to eat - got a myriad of warnings upon start) - called Polestar Service. Was told they would call Polestar Charlotte (don't think they are still open this time of day), and call me back in an hour...

Errors in series of occurrence:

Slow down
The vehicle will reduce speed
Propulsion system failure
OK

Propulsion system
Service required
OK

(Information icon next to exterior temperature, turtle next to state of charge bar, pull-down bar on infotainment is orange - pulled down bar)
SystemUI
1 warning detected

(Car status screen)
Propulsion system.Service required.
Tap here for details

(after tapping)
Propulsion system
The propulsion system requires service.
Bring the vehicle to a workshop.

sigh

My car is getting towed to Charlotte this afternoon. No loaners available, and rental not available till 9:45 am tomorrow.

Was told to keep my gas receipts and that I would get reimbursed by Polestar Support.

Noticed that the battery went down by 2% between me getting the errors yesterday and getting on the tow truck. It was in the garage and locked.

One week down - my car remains in Charlotte with no word on the errors. I am checking my car via the app, and logging the state of charge like a real stalker...

Errors disappeared and never reappeared under Polestar Charlotte/University Volvo's observation and driving for the last week and a half. Working on getting it back to me soon.

Mentioned that they have a mobile tech handling TCAM issues in North Carolina now, which is exciting.

I got the infamous message this morning twice on a loaner…..On top of reduced power for a while. Contacted polestar and they told me to contact whoever gave me the loaner…..local Polestar didn’t do anything……because that was the last loaner available…..in the meantime still working on a software update software since Saturday. polestar customer service is not on par with the premium image and prices they are selling their cars. Horrible experience so far

Wow - and only 374 miles on that one 😳

Also had this a year ago, booked it in next day at nearby Volvo dealer and it disappeared while I drove there. They just shrugged it off as a software glitch and did a software update since I was there. Has been fine since then.

Had the propulsion system service required error, was not able to shift the car in to gear. Had to "Turn Car off" via the infotainment screen ( soft reset of infotainment screen did not work), lock the car and came back in after couple of minutes and was then able to shift the car in to gear but, the error remained. Charged the car to 80% over night and the next morning the error was gone. Called polestar to report, polestar insisted to tow it to the nearest space. Austin space kept it for two weeks and was told that they need a CMOS sensor to replace and part was on shortage, I was given an Chevy Malibu as a rental and I hated it to drive.

Finally called polestar and told them that they have 16 more days before I will initiate lemon law claim based on a 30 day rule ( 30 days does not count if they gave you a comparable loaner) but in my case, not a comparable loaner.

Polestar Austin called me same day and said that they have the part available right away and are going to change it the same day, they sent my car back the following Monday.

I believe that this might be a software issue or a sensor issue and I honestly do not think that Austin Space did anything. If the error is gone, don't worry about it ( But definitely get a record started with space just in case for future reference and warranty/ Class Action purposes). If it returns, then that might indicate something serious is going on.

That happened to the loaner car, my P2 was in for software update and to check why bending lights were not working. But I learned after this first visit to Polestar FL lauderdale that I hope I don’t have to return again. Horrible service….need customer service training urgent and invest a little bit on a decent place to accommodate clients. Mom-and-pop tire shop have a better waiting area

This happened to me. I was charging at EA and got an error in the high 70% range. When I disconnected the cable and jumped in to drive away, my display gave me around 4 different errors, one having to do with the 12 volt and another about the propulsion and 2 others I forget. It wouldn't shift into gear, and then the display went crazy, like a freezing computer game. Volvo Connect advised to lock the car and leave it for an hour. When I returned, it was driveable again, but for the next several days gave me the propulsion error, which I was able to dismiss and drive without issues. What I soon found out was that the car was unable to fast charge. Polestar towed it, and called me 2 days later to say there was an "overheated terminal at battery disconnect (BDU) 500a fuze". They replaced the BDU and it's been fine since. Though now I sweat a little at EA chargers...

Unfortunately, I got this same error message and now my car is waiting on a replacement part. We stopped at a store and the car wouldn’t go into drive. We got out of the car and walked away from the vehicle, we were fortunate it allowed me to drive it home and to the dealer for repair. Apparently there is one part in California and the dealer won’t know if it’s available until Monday. They gave me a loaner and I’m back to pumping gas 😩. Hopefully it goes well.

If I’m reading my vin correctly it’s a 01xxx.
