So very frustrating @nbvolks. And that GHCA backorder botch is icing on the cake now. 😡 The 4 would be awesome. I haven't had the car for as long as you, so I can't say what I'd do if I were you.

But mine has been in service for about 24 days now (less than the 30 needed to get out of the lease), and if all goes to plan, the transport company will be bringing it back this weekend. My lease is relatively short, so I'm still planning on keeping it even if it goes back in the shop again, then making the decision to swap at the end of the lease. Polestar Denver Service has been really good, communicative, and have hit all the timeline estimates they've been able to give so far, although they obviously couldn't give a timeline for the back ordered part, so the time waiting for that was unknown until the part actually arrived.

Good luck with whatever you decide! Your posts on here have been tremendously helpful, so I'm hoping you stick with Polestar! 😁 But, if not Polestar, I'd hands-down do the Lucid if I could justify the price (my buddy is a director of powertrain engineering there, a former Ferrari F1 guy). They're incredible.

Regardless, thank you for your input, advice, and posts on here.
The big appeal of the Gravity to me really come down to:
  1. Build quality and materials seem good, and improved over the Air.
  2. Who doesn't love a frunk you can use as a chair?
  3. I've always loved having large panoramic sunroofs, but as the driver, I never really get to enjoy them beyond the light they provide. But having the wrap over windshield, would give this really amazing expansive visual while driving.
But I just don't like the MPV-type exterior styling. And the Air is a no go because of the trunk.

CO based ‘Out of Spec Reviews’ has good things to say about Polestar out there. They good reviews but very wordy. They could really do more aggressive editing!
The longer the videos and the longer it retains engagement, the more $ they make.

FWIW, I’d take another P3,

… but I confess that I’m really intrigued by the ID Buzz and wish I was younger and with a larger family!

[Cadillac??!! 😱]
Yeah, so the only real reason for the ID.Buzz on the list is because my first car, which I still have, is a '74 brilliant orange Beetle. So having an orange ID.Buzz would be a bit of a fun car to have for a little bit on lease. But we otherwise don't need what's really a minivan. We're a family of 4 that usually packs light, so we've never needed overly large vehicles. Also a little annoying that the US ones don't get a heat pump, and that the 1st Editions lack the HUD and heated windshield that come on the identically spec'd Pro Plus version. Oh, and the reverse camera is absolute garbage.

Looks so cool.

My first car was a Buick station wagon with three rows. You could fit 4x8 plywood in the rear. I loved it then but now shudder at the thought. Bought if for $300/- from another student at the start of my graduate program and sold it for $300/- two years later. Worked well as a sleeper van on road trips for my wife and me in our first years 🙂

You are going from the frying pan into the fire with a tycan. They can't give them away in the UK. Think it's one of the most recalled cars in the last few years and a huge reason for Porsche huge loss of profit tanking sales and share price.

They have had global recalls and other issues with battery fires, airbag failure, faulty front brake hoses and. Some reports also mention recalls related to welding and suspension failure.

Porsche has lost it's shine. 911 it's last basion really.

Of the cars you mentioned as possible replacement options, none of them would appeal to me. If you get an option of an newer Polestar 3, I'd take it!

I’m with you - I like the Gravity on paper, spec-wise, I just don’t like how it looks. Lucid’s designs in general don’t do it for me. Reminds me of the EQS bubble car.

Taycan refresh seems amazing - and they seem to have the issues sorted now. Range is great, charging speed is great, and you can get a wagon too… I have two objections - price and lack of one pedal drive!

So I recently test-drove a Porsche Macan, and I was actually thinking about buying one. But man, I was really disappointed. The suspension’s super stiff, the car rocks around, the sound insulation sucks, the handling’s just okay, and the interior creaks whenever you press on stuff. Honestly, you’re just paying for the badge. I don’t get why anyone would spend that kind of money on it. I also looked pretty seriously at the Polestar 3, but the brand’s resale value and future worry me, plus the software issues. So for now, I’m sticking with Tesla — I ordered a Model Y Performance. Gonna drive it for like a year, maybe a year and a half, and then see what’s next. Oh, and I live in Spain.

He replied and said, "That was an issue with the old distributor of this part, we haven't seen any issues with the new distributor." I'm going to leave it at that and hope that it truly is a long-term fix.
Just an update here that may give some hope to some (I hope not added salt in the wound @nbvolks!).

I got my P3 back Friday night (on the flatbed from Denver to here in Salt Lake City). The driver got in the P3 on the flatbed (door opened fine) and then drove it off and parked it in my driveway. He got out and shut the door. Gave me the keys and then I went to get in to check things out and the front door handle was non-functional. To be clear, it presented itself, but when you pulled on it, it would not open the door. I thought, oh boy, here we go.

I held the fob/card to the door handle and the handle retracted. I held the key to it again and the handle extended. But it still wouldn't work when I pulled on it. Basically the same thing described here: https://www.polestar-forum.com/threads/drivers-door-won’t-open-from-outside.17488/

I opened it from the passenger side and rolled down the window so I could open it easily by reaching through the window (which worked, oddly enough). I did a soft reset. Issue continued. I did a hard reset. Issue continued. I drove it around a little bit and then put it on my Level 2 charger and left it for about an hour. When I came back to it, the door handle was back to functioning normally. Drove around a lot Friday night after that ordeal as well as yesterday and everything seems to work great.

The service center did the following:
  • Updated to 1.3.18 to fix the following issues:
    • Digital key not functioning
    • Phone app not connecting to the car
    • OTA updates not downloading (apparently because of the app not connecting to the car)
    • Backup camera recall/issue
    • Air Conditioning performance issues
    • Climate settings becoming unavailable on the display
  • Replaced the recalled SP1052 ASSM Actuator for the air conditioning
  • Replaced the GHCA (I'm seeing part number 36012239 for the "Battery Charger OB 1 SOR" and 32383980 for the "GHCA Reload 1" in case that's helpful to anyone)
  • Rear hitch installed

When did your car go in to the shop?

It's pretty sad to see how badly Polestar botched this rollout. The car is a joy (when it works) and a costly annoyance or worse (when things don't work, which is quite often for more than a handful of us). I'm really doubtful that the Polestar brand will be able to come out of this.Their lackluster customer service and follow up, which has nothing to do with their software programming and testing expertise makes me doubt that they can compel new customers to pony up even more for the 5. Volvo is more likely to salvage this situation than Polestar.

The problem I have is no one else does the EV experience as well as Polestar… we test drove the Audi Q6 and just couldn’t get excited about the car. Compared to the 3, it was cheap inside, driver profiles were halfhearted, you needed to push the shifter twice to put it in one pedal every time, and the one pedal tuning wasn’t as good.

Yup, most EVs are priced to perfection, and have "issues". I think manufacturers who make an effort to take care of their customers will have a better chance of coming out of this than those who don't. I agree with the Q6 - wouldn't touch it, but hopefully Audi and their dealerships are doing a better job of customer care.

I picked up my P3 last December. The only other car I test drove was the (then new) Macan EV. I drove the base version and it was ...nice? Singularly uninspiring considering it's a Porsche and the expectations that engenders. The P3 in contrast felt more engaging, more comfortable - just overall a much better experience. I didn't bother to wait for the Q6 despite having driven nothing but Audi's since 2001 - my last being a 2013 A7. Just didn't find the newer Audi's compelling. Based on the reviews, doesn't sound like I missed much by skipping the Q6.

I'll note I've been lucky with no major issues at all for my P3 and I'm at 16,000km. No regrets on the purchase at all - really enjoy driving it.

My Polestar 3 is repaired and back in my possession. Happy to be reunited, but the wait time wasn't ideal.
