didnt work.
already tried. All this options brings no atmos in p3 with Apple Music with car Play
There are a lot of variables on this topic..
1. Lossless (highest quality) and Dolby Atmos (spatial audio) are not the same. You can have one or the other, but a track cannot play in both simultaneously. And not every track is available in those formats. When your iPhone Music settings are “maxed out”, what I have observed is Apple Music is
prioritizing Lossless. So while you may not be getting Dolby Atmos, you should still be getting Lossless??
2. Apple Music always wants your music to play, so will evaluate conditions (Bluetooth, Wifi, cellular, downloaded etc….) and equipment capabilities (home audio, AirPods, Sonos, car etc…) when playing a track. So even though you think you should be getting Dolby Atmos, conditions and equipment might delver something else. If you look under the track progress bar in Apple Music, it will indicate if it is playing a “Dolby Atmos” or “Lossless” version. AND, it can change… a track that was Dolby Atmos playing to your AirPods Pro 2, might not be Dolby Atmos on another device.
I’m the guy who wouldn’t hand over money for a P3 until CarPlay was available… because listening to music on the B&W system was a priority. I’m picking it up on Tuesday and will do a full test. But I already know 90% of the playlist I downloaded defaulted to “Lossless”, not "Dolby Atmos".
The best test someone could do right now is to go sit in their P3 with a set of AirPods Pro 2 (which can play everything). Play a track to their AirPods Pro 2 where Apple Music
clearly shows it’s playing a Dolby Atmos track, and then switch to CarPlay. If the Dolby Atmos indicator goes off, there’s a problem with the “connection” or “capabilities”. Same with Lossless… check to see if the indicator suddenly turns off.
PS: there was a somewhat convoluted response from Polestar a while back in the official Polestar Community thread on this topic. But it did conclude wireless CarPlay would support Dolby Atmos on the P3. Guess that's still TBD.
