I tried Tidal via Apple car play. Started an Atmos song but seems the hifi signal did not make it till the car, as I could keep the sound in theater mode. With the built in Tidal app it defaults to „Studio“ once you start playing an Atmos song.

to me, apple carplay does not bring a lot of advantages, maybe the podcast app is a nice addition.

But what I also notice now is if I play Tidal via Android OS I can remote control it with Tidal iphone app. That was not possible before - in the past it seems it tried streaming it via bluetooth but got rejected by the car (and iphone app pause a split second later) as another source was already playing. Great addition!

I got CarPlay to work via Bluetooth. When trying to follow Apple's instruction linked by urbanmark I can see WiFi names polestar_NNNN (four digits) which must be related to my car as no other Polestars are around. When trying to connect to polestar_NNNN it asks for a password of which I have no clue. My understanding is that P3 does not have hotspot functionality using built-in 5G.

I do not have a Apple Music subscription so I tested Tidal in CarPlay. It does not seem to have Dolby Atmos as I can adjust music settings and it does not sound Dolby Atmos. When using Tidal app downloaded from P3:s Play store music settings other than Studio can not be enabled when streaming Dolby Atmos tracks.

Any advice or anyone who has got Apple Music working with Dolby Atmos via Bluetooth CarPlay?
Double check your Apple Music settings first? Settings —> Apps —> Music. When streaming over cellular, “Lossless” or “Dolby Atmos” are turned off by default because the files are huge.

In "Audio Quality", there's a setting to toggle "Lossless Audio" and there’s even a warning that tells you how much data a 3 minute “Lossless” song will consume. I leave it on "High Quality" for cellular, but set it to "Lossless" for "Downloads"

There's also a setting to turn on for “Download in Dolby Atmos” make sure that’s turned on, download the songs to your phone and then try playing those? I get my P3 on Tuesday… I already have a playlist of 40 songs downloaded to test out :)

didnt work.
already tried. All this options brings no atmos in p3 with Apple Music with car Play

My car is now struggling with unlocking. The rfid cards are generally no good. Phone is working, but often have to open wallet app and click unlock. The white fob is not working. Once unlocked with phone RFID works to lock.

the car now has perm orange lighting. The update says lighting fix, mine seems to have decided it’s performance model! 🤣

I don’t think you can play Atmos over CarPlay. It doesn’t work over AirPlay and that’s WiFi too.

Atmos is at most just a modest improvement and at worst just plain bad. It depends on who mixed the song. Some songs/albums are phenomenal while most just sound off. I have a full blown Sonos Atmos setup at home and I prefer just plain lossless stereo 9 out of 10 times.

Installed the update yesterday. Everything else is working as it should (?) except I can't connect my S25 Ultra as a key to the car. Anyone else has these issues or ideas what to do?

Still waiting from Polestar to activate easy entry mode (steering wheel and seat movement when getting in and out) and make really use of the steering wheel buttons...
What is this "easy entry mode" ?

Non performance models have both now aswell. Nice gesture from polestar ;)

Perf and non-perf can now choose between white and orange. Its in Settings - More - Interior lights.

If you hit the car shaped icon at the bottom of the screen, then go into system settings, you can find the update
No luck, I've tried forcing the update via system settings for a couple of days now.

I feel like I might need to be driving and be in an area with stronger lte signal? Last time it triggered I was on the motorway/highway.

There are a lot of variables on this topic..

1. Lossless (highest quality) and Dolby Atmos (spatial audio) are not the same. You can have one or the other, but a track cannot play in both simultaneously. And not every track is available in those formats. When your iPhone Music settings are “maxed out”, what I have observed is Apple Music is prioritizing Lossless. So while you may not be getting Dolby Atmos, you should still be getting Lossless??

2. Apple Music always wants your music to play, so will evaluate conditions (Bluetooth, Wifi, cellular, downloaded etc….) and equipment capabilities (home audio, AirPods, Sonos, car etc…) when playing a track. So even though you think you should be getting Dolby Atmos, conditions and equipment might delver something else. If you look under the track progress bar in Apple Music, it will indicate if it is playing a “Dolby Atmos” or “Lossless” version. AND, it can change… a track that was Dolby Atmos playing to your AirPods Pro 2, might not be Dolby Atmos on another device.

I’m the guy who wouldn’t hand over money for a P3 until CarPlay was available… because listening to music on the B&W system was a priority. I’m picking it up on Tuesday and will do a full test. But I already know 90% of the playlist I downloaded defaulted to “Lossless”, not "Dolby Atmos".

The best test someone could do right now is to go sit in their P3 with a set of AirPods Pro 2 (which can play everything). Play a track to their AirPods Pro 2 where Apple Music clearly shows it’s playing a Dolby Atmos track, and then switch to CarPlay. If the Dolby Atmos indicator goes off, there’s a problem with the “connection” or “capabilities”. Same with Lossless… check to see if the indicator suddenly turns off.

PS: there was a somewhat convoluted response from Polestar a while back in the official Polestar Community thread on this topic. But it did conclude wireless CarPlay would support Dolby Atmos on the P3. Guess that's still TBD.

Same here with unlocking - and the orange lights - which I really like! Auto windscreen wiper on sensitive mode but still doesn't seem to realise the windscreen is wet. HUD seems to have less info - but maybe that's another setting elsewhere. And ghost alarm after locking still happening.

I really don't understand how poor the update system is 😂

I'm a software engineer in one of the big tech companies and I'm baffled at some of the bugs and just how this lottery update system works. You'd think that if I've already had my OTA notification and the prompt to install (because it's downloaded) - it should just be available any time for me to reattempt an install.

They told me that it would trigger after 1,5 hours of driving, but with me it was close to 6 hours before it eventually triggered.
So crazy that there isn't just a download button.

I was in the car for 5 mins and a message popped up. I wasn't even aware they had confirmed a release date. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Fully agree, I am at the 8 hour marker and still no update.
Previous 2 OTA's I had it in the first drive the day after

Yeah I tried the same right after the update. I played a Tidal atmos track over carplay. it didn't trigger the car to understand it was Atmos. (also checking the sound settings which visually shows atmos as well).

Either way, I turned off carplay entirely. As i'm not using Apple music, I see no advantage to it. I hate the feeling of a 'system in system'. Google maps is what I use anyway for navigation. Also doing a phone call through Google assistant is not possible anymore with the steering wheel button, as carplay is active etc.

feels more annoying for me anyway.

The OTA update worked seamlessly for me. I had no issues before but now my car locks when I walk away and the wipers wait for me to close the door before starting up!

I’ll only use CarPlay for listening to podcasts from my phone. Other than that, I’d rather use the car’s own systems. (The downloading of CarPlay during the OTA update was automatic.)

I swapped from Apple Music to Tidal for that very reason and I (and every passenger) continues to be blown away by the quality of the B&W system. I wouldn’t bother with Apple Music over Bluetooth.

On Thursday I drove 350miles in rain and sleet at about temp 2C. The car was rock solid, ridiculously quick and quiet. The miles just disappeared. Just a sensational car.
