Just received this via email:

We are reaching out to inform you of an important service action regarding your Polestar 4 (VIN: YSM4ZPAA3SF**).

During recent quality testing, we have identified that the steering wheel buttons may not be functioning as intended on a selection of Polestar 4 cars. To resolve this it is necessary to replace the buttons, this can be completed free of charge at any Polestar Approved Service point.

We kindly ask you to schedule the appointment directly by contacting your local Polestar Service Point quoting the reference AP1034. If you need any further assistance, please reach out to Polestar Support. We apologise for any inconvenience.

I guess you have the option of contacting Polestar and saying you won't accept delivery until the work has been completed. It depends how much of an inconvenience getting the repair done post delivery is I suppose.

What a mess this is - how did it not get picked up in the usual pre-production testing?!?

Mine was in Junk folder like others have suggested… Called my local service centre (Volvo dealership) this morning and they have no idea what this is about and nothing flags on their system for the reference number. Have had to get Polestar involved to get in touch with them! Not great, so far and doesn’t fill me with confidence for when the car goes in as they wont know what they’re doing and likely don’t even have the parts.

I have daily issues with the buttons although I only have the car for some days now and I got no email. According to Polestar I'm not affected but I have the same symptoms most drivers are experiencing so far. They are now checking with the service center. Let's see how it goes. Would be funny if my car already has the new buttons they are now exchanging in the 'affected' cars.

It seems like all the cars delivered/soon to be delivered are affected due to my car needing the change aswell. My car is not yet delivered. The delivery day is 31st of this month. I asked this from Polestar support and they try to get the replacement done before delivery or we arrange a service time after delivery.

From what I've read it's impossible to see a pattern in the recalls. Early and late deliveries alike are being recalled. Granted I'm not reading every single FB post about this, but it looks random to me.

I take it for granted that mine (to be delivered second week of Nov) is impacted.

Pål Engh, who is a poster here, posted a pic of the modules side by side and the change is SW 0302 to SW 0303 and no change in HW.

Received email yesterday. Buttons left and right locked every now and then. Booked for 5th of November along with the change for winter tires.
My guess: all vehicles are affected. Conditions to trigger the problem are many and involve sw and hw integration. Not sure it will be solved only changing the buttons. I would prefer to change them for traditional buttons but I don’t think it will happen.

My P4 was delivered 30th September. Was onto Polestar from day 2 stating there was an intermittent issue with steering wheel buttons. They eventually sent an engineer out on 15th but he could not find an issue. Emailed again on 21st and they asked me to perform a reset !!
No recall received yet, but have just sent email today. Hopefully gets sorted.

My buttons have been replaced and now work as intended. The right hand side were always ok, the left side not. Now the left side work properly, but you do still need to be quite precise with where you press - quite close to the centre button as opposed to on the outer edges. I tested it extensively and it's fine. The car was with them for less than an hour and it was the first P4 they'd seen.

I also mentioned the fact the car sometimes doesn't unlock when you approach with the key fob, more often that not in the morning. Apparantly this is because the car goes into a deep sleep when left for a number of hours and the EX30 exhibits the same behaviour. I'm not 100% convinced as even when I've fired up the heating (which often takes two goes - waking the car up?) the car still doesn't unlock on approach. Maybe there are different systems to wake up.

Anyway, as experiences go it was painless and as good as these things can get.

Good to hear the button fix has worked. Mine is booked in for next week.
The unlocking issue is something I have experienced too.
Other annoying issues HUD keeps disappearing, main screen goes blank when you need it most and gesture boot opening is random.
All that said, I’m really enjoying the car.

I have just had mine done - the car seemed to be fighting back a bit and it took them 90 minutes - it was the first they had done. Now, I offer no explanation for this at all, but the Pilot Assist now works and changes lanes reliably and without cancelling as it always did before. I also notice that the drive screen phone graphic now shows ring and cancel which was always a guess before. Seems to have fixed some bits and they promise an OTA ‘very shortly’.
