Temporarily switch off collision avoidance breaking?

Each time I return home I have to reverse my car down a relatively narrow driveway, with a very low wall on one side and a tall hedge on the other. With practice this is not difficult, but what is almost impossible, though, is to do so without the car screaming and panicking because it thinks I'm about to hit one side or the other! Worse is that unless I come down at an absolute snail's pace, the car frequently slams on the emergency brake half way down.
Does anyone know if it's possible to temporarily switch off collision avoidance breaking while I reverse down my drive? Thanks.

The camera stays on but you can disable RAB (rear auto break.) In the US you have to do this everytime you drive but I’m not sure if that’s true in all counties. The camera itself still works requardless of RAB being enabled or not.

Note that this is different from collision auto real when going forward. That’s enabled, I think but not 100% sure, in the car settings.

This is a screenshot of my video showing the backup camera issues
Just tap that right button. It only appears briefly. There is no image on the screen because Polestar, but that is after putting it in reverse.

I have a large hedge right on the edge of my driveway (inches away from the car when i back up). I have found that if i back up too quickly, the reverse collision braking will activate. First time it happened to me, scared the living hell out of Me. But once, it saved me from running over a metal rake (and flattening a tire) that my fife had inadvertently placed right behind the car…so I don’t de-activate.

But have learned that if you back out very slowly when you know there is a hazard off to the side, it won’t activate. But if you go over (about) ~ 2-3 mph, it will activate.

Slow roll out of the garage, or until you pass the hazard known to trigger this safety feature, and, at least for me, it will not activate. No need to de-activate….unless you want to, anyway.

Yes, Dude we clearly both have the same T-shirt here! I found the same; that if I creep down at a snail's pace, the RAB "probably" won't engage! I do certainly take your point that switching it off is asking for trouble. For the last 24-hours I have been switching it off, but perhaps I will now go back to leaving it on now, and just allow an extra 10 minutes to get down the drive!
