[US] Can I get the Performance-software-upgrade W/O Performance-Pack on MY23?

Been debating between configurations for a bit.

I am trying to decide if I want the Performance Pack or not.

The Performance Pack lists a "Performance software upgrade" in its features.

I had been reading through the forum and it looks like the software-upgrade is available for MY22 cars outside of the US(?)

My initial thoughts are to not purchase the performance-pack and then buy the performance-software-upgrade at a later date (when it becomes available?)

I called my local dealer and was told I could not do that i.e that the performance-software-upgrade could not be purchased individually.

Hearing conflicting things here. Wanted to see if anyone had heard differently as well.

Your local dealer is part of the problem and why you can’t have nice things over there :(

If you don’t want the equipment of the performance pack I’d say it’s not worth paying for it just to get the software upgrade. It’s not such a big deal anyway, the car has plenty of power and the upgrade only fully available when battery is over 70% which mine rarely is.

If you absolutely want it though then safest option is to get the performance pack now, as Polestar might not be able to deliver it to you in a meaningful time frame or even at all, or that if they do price might have ludicrous mark ups by the dealers (which is nuts because all they need to do is attach three stickers).

I used the chat function on the website yesterday and asked this exact question. The guy told me to wait a little bit and he was going to talk to the tech team about it. He got back to me a few minutes later and said that yes, the acceleration boost will be available for purchase to anyone who has the dual motor version. Having the performance pack from the factory will not be a requirement. Again, this came from the chat feature, so I wouldn’t put 100% faith in it, especially since they told you basically the opposite at the dealership.

From one of Polestar’s own releases on the Performance software (the one that will increase HP from 408HP to 470HP), says it will be available as an OTA software update on all P2 with the dual motor option. You have to have the dual motor that already has 408HP, to qualify. Period. There is no mention that one has to have gotten the Performance Park, that includes the adjustable suspension, larger brakes/rotors, yellow/gold seat belt, etc.

The only thing that’s unclear to me is, is whether this OTA update is free, or whether Polestar will charge for this significant bump in HP and torque. Regardless, even if it isn’t free, I will pay this fee.

Why would you even think that it could be free? It is a paid update everywhere else in the world, the price of the performance pack has gone up to include this. There is no way they will give this for free. Please don't even begin to start that conversation again :ROFLMAO:

Polestar have been consistently clear that they intend to offer the performance software upgrade in the US to all owners of a dual motor model. The only questions seem to be around when, and what the purchase model will be. They’ve indicated that the intention is to have it available by the end of this year.

Because the only mention, from Polestar (an official release), that I have read, had no mention of cost…only what cars would qualify for this update, and what the update would entail.

So, what is the price for this update?
Seems to have settled on the equivalent of around $1000 in the rest of the world. I expect it'll probably be about the same here depending on HOW they intend to sell it.

As noted, the dealership lobby is strong in this country... too strong. There's the question of whether or not this will be an OTA upgrade like everywhere else in the world or whether it's going to be a "dealership only" option. I suspect that's been a lot of the delay; trying to work that out with the dealerships.
