Thanks to Spectrum Geeks on YouTube and his great video (see link at end of this post), I decided to tackle the DIY of wrapping my center console. I’ve had my share of cars with piano black (glossy) and I just hate how they show dirt, finger prints, scratches, etc. And of course this is nothing novel, this has been done hundreds of times before on this forum.

I’ve never wrapped anything before, though I have bought pre-cut pre-fab panels for Tesla vehicles that I’ve owned. And while I did already own a heat gun, this was my first vinyl wrap project. Disclaimer: the outcome is not perfect, small bubbles that I’ll see if I can resolve. But I’m super happy with this for a first time dip. I did have to restart (and cut more vinyl) twice, but the end result is one I’m pleased with.

Below are some photos, for your viewing please. Also below is a link to the Amazon product that I used. I tried to include a few photos that show the “near perfect match” this product offers. Some people have gone with something more contrasting…. I wanted this to look as OEM as possible. So I lucked out with my Amazon buy being really darn good match to the OE wood grains.

Enjoy the photos!

(3x photos showing how it looks; 99% perfect, some imperfections as I noted)

(some close-ups next to the OE panels to show the matching nature of the wood; i even did my best to make the wood grain go front-to-back for a more appealing, OE-looking aesthetic)

How was the removal? I’ve heard it’s rather …tricky.
Getting the first clip free was daunting, I went slow, and didn’t want to break anything. I used just my fingers/hands no tools. Once that one came free (right side/forward most) I worked clockwise around to get the other 5 popped and lift the whole unit. Getting the green connector off was easy; getting the two clips off to get the glossy part separate from the charging pad rubber took time again. Slow and steady wins the race here, and while I did end up using a small plastic pry tool to get the two panels separate, any small flat tool could be used to just slightly relieve the clips there. Overall the video does a great job explaining the task at hand— but until you do it, it is just visualizations. The actual task of removing the panel wasn’t difficult, just “scary” at times LOL

Thanks. If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, consider yourself complimented. Just did mine. First time wrapping. Watched some videos, was pretty easy and I am happy with the results.
Looks great!! Congrats -- we're all becoming vinyl wrapping pros here on the Polestar forums haha!
