Description:
• Improved stability of the internet connection.
• Improvements to GPS stability to address the issue of drifting or missing GPS positions on the map.
• Enhanced locking and unlocking functionality when approaching or leaving the vehicle using the digital key.
• Improved Apple CarPlay connectivity to ensure that Apple CarPlay reconnects during each new driving cycle.
• Previously, Apple CarPlay did not always reconnect correctly at the start of a new driving cycle.
• The pop-up notification for OTA software updates has been improved so that it now remains visible for a longer period when a new update is available.
• Audio settings and Abbey Road Studios mode settings have been improved to prevent missing content issues, such as the absence of the “Back” button on the center display.
• Seat position memory has been improved and now follows the driver profile selected in the vehicle.

I am super excited if this fixes all of the CarPlay disconnects, and makes the built-in stuff more reliable as well (I've had moments of no reception or wrong GPS which were fixed with soft resets, but they're pretty rare).

Tried to check for updates this morning, nothing yet... I'm US, and picked up the car in July so this will be my first update. How long does it generally take to roll out?

Updates are released to the workshops first, then they get pushed out over the air one to two (and rarely three) weeks later. Even then, they're rolled out in batches, so while you might see some owners get it on the first day, you might get it a few days later.

Something seems wrong. The bumps from 1.1.xx --> 1.2.xx --> 1.3.xx all had significant additions, updates, changes. 1.4.xx feels like a "General Stability Improvements" update. Were any customers demanding on forums/Reddit about the need for:

"...pop-up message improved to allow a longer display time when a new update is available."

Yes, I'm glad there's a new software update, but I'm about as excited about 1.4.xx as when Polestar issued a press release that highlighted the MY26 Polestar 3 side sticker would have a “larger font”. Polestar (and Volvo) need to write these release notes from a customer centric perspective. Prioritize and list the changes based on the things customers are really asking for. It would demonstrate they are listening.

PS: PLEASE prioritize media controls on the steering wheel (that's the one thing I convinced myself would finally be included in 1.4.xx)

In the article that's making the rounds about Volvo apologizing and focusing on fixing the software there's a comment suggesting a lot of behind-the-scenes architectural improvements in the software this update, which could warrant the version jump but have little user-facing benefit. Probably a safe bet to say much of the work done over the last year has been related to completing and refining their new "Superset" software stack that will underpin the cars' core software.

Also definitely worth noting there are always a ton of improvements that don't get listed in these release notes.

P.S. I too am losing patience over the lack of steering wheel functionality.

As an android user I'm pretty disappointed in the features and functionality provided. I wish they would just admit they haven't got it right and give us Android auto
I wish Google would stop dragging their feet and accelerate the porting of the "Car Ready" apps and push devs to build and release for AAOS alongside AA. I would also like to see a version of AAOS that isn't what, 3 years old now?

FWIW, AA is still listed on the site as coming late this year (wouldn't hold my breath though): Polestar 3 Infotainment | Polestar US

I mean it would help if Google ported over their own apps, like Google Calendar, Google Chat, etc., etc.

EX90 mentions climate fix?

Improvements
  • We’ve improved how the vehicle handles losing internet connection and the GPS position drifting or being lost in the map view.
  • Unlocking with a digital key or key tag is more reliable after the vehicle has been idle for a long time.
  • Apple CarPlay reconnects correctly between driving cycles.
  • The automatic climate mode is now better at accounting for sunlight on sunny days.
  • We’ve also made some improvements to HD radio.
Fixes
  • Seat positions are now correctly saved for user profiles.
  • Problems with the back button and content missing in audio and Abbey Road settings have been fixed.
  • We’ve resolved an issue that caused performance problems after using certain apps.
  • The message that’s displayed when an over-the-air (OTA) update is available is now visible for a longer period of time.

1.3.x to 1.4.x is a minor version update. Not a major. I predict we will not see any 2.x version on the current hardware.

The criteria for bumping major, minor or revision numbers are usually not very strict. Usually a major version bump indicates new tech, new architecture or addition of substantial functional areas. Minor version bump vs revision bump is usually determined by chance or some product management or quality control guidelines.

The way Polestar numbers the software versions is so bizarre! I am really beginning tto wonder who is in charge, what sort of bozo? My car is in for a scheduled look at all of the catastrophic things that have occurred to the car in the 9 months I have had it. The service people had no idea if the new software is even truly available in the US.

I really do feel as if I m=]am a guinea pig, calling me a beta tester is too much of an understatement! I am a stock owner, i plan to write to the CEO and ask WTF is going on!

So I just picked the car up with 1.4.12 and it opened with digital key right away which for me normally happens about 1 out of 3 approaches.
Carplay was immediately connected which it didn't most of the times; also good. And the screen actually seemed to pick up where I was in my phone but that might be a coincidence.
One thing I didn't like (but did expect) is that I left the car at the shop with my keycard which obviously is linked to my account. So the seat was completely messed up by the mechanic and I had to manually get it back to what I think it once was. So 'seat' memory still is 'no' memory because when you change it it thinks it's your new preference...
Long drive tomorrow so we'll see if I'll notice differences.

Is that key card linked to your profile along with the PAK?

I guess this belongs in the file, misery loves company! My car is still at service. According to my service rep, the update was installed, and now they are waiting on Polestar to okay whatever else they seem to need to do to clear the problems I have had.

We discovered the problem with the loaner, partly at least. The car has need resetting 3 times in the 24 hours I have had it, but that is a separate issue. I had no sound, not on radio, GPS, and i kept getting a message stating that voice recognition will be handled by the device. I actually went to TMobile, where I purchased the phone and asked them about this, they had no clue.

The service had a "specialist" sit with me to problem solve. It took 30 mins or so to find the solution, which hopefully will work when I get my car back. It turns out that Android update added Gemini to the phone, it is an assist like function, but conflicts with the Google assist in the vehicle. We had to figure out how to turn off Gemini and restore Google assist in the car. Now, at least, I am more comfortable using the loaner, since I can use the phone handsfree in it. Please do not tell me to get a compatible phone!

Last I heard from service, the car will not likely be ready today. They claim they filed a case with Polestar and are waiting for approval. I called Polestar Support, spoke to Patrice, and was told, they see no case opened. She said she would try to get to the bottom of the situation.

For whoever has got the latest update :
Q1. Has the seat and mirror memory setting and user profiles issue been resolved - verify if seat and mirror setting changes to last set value for the user profile.
Q2. Has the phone audio / mic issue been fixed - sometimes the mic and phone audio stops working, and you can hear or make calls and google assistant will not pickup anything you say. Requires a soft reboot to fix.

What kind of "specialist" was this, because:
  1. The car has Google Assistant, not Gemini (for now).
  2. Having Gemini running on your phone as the assistant does NOT impact the Google Assistant functions on the car.
I've had Gemini as my primary assistant since before taking delivery of our P3 (or the subsequent loaners) and have had no ill effects with Google Assistant functions in any of the cars. Gemini is Google, and is intended to essentially replace Google Assistant.
You know, I will not argue with you. I am simply explaining what happened, if it helps anyone else, that would be great! I am not in the habit of lying.

The man was called a delivery specialist by my service representative, who reportedly knew the workings of such things. He did take me from no sound in the vehicle, no ability to say: "Okay Google" and get a response, to fully functional.
I agree, but none of that means they need to accelerate their release cycle beyond what it has been in the past. The double-edged sword that OEMs are facing is they're trying to keep up with rapidly advancing tech in a heavily regulated, disjointed industry, with an immensely complicated product. They absolutely have some catching up to do, and cycle timing aside I expect the post Orin update to be huge.

Their release plan reminds me of Google's Pixel Drop release strategy, which I'm fine with, but if they just crank out some simple "bugs and fixes" every 3 months I'll be hollering too.

You and me both... and hopefully with more than a few months left.
The are not catching up with a rapidly advancing technology, they released a product that was not adequately tested. I thought that the P3 had been in use in Europe, etc., for a periods of time to shake out problems before being offered in the USA. Do not blame the problems on regulations! That is nonsense, what part of not being able to get into my car and drive it with the provided fob is a regulatory issue?

Some will be upset with me stating the obvious again, I am a retired physician. If I practiced medicine the way Polestar produces cars and reacts to problems with them, I would have lost my license a long time ago. In medicine, if I was using an experimental protocol, I provided an informed consent which clearly indicated the risks of the procedure. If i knew that i was a guinea pig for the P3, I might have thought again if i wanted to sign a 3 year lease.

Can y’all take this to private messages or something? Or perhaps a mental health professional who can help you work through why it’s so important to have the last word? Sheesh 🙄

Anyways…………Whenever someone gets the OTA, feel free to PM me a link to the message in this thread so I don’t have to click through 5 pages of irrelevancy tysm stay calm and blessed fellow Polestar geeks 🤓

Mine isnt showing it as an option for my PS3. I'm very excited for the "Fix for seat position so that it is now correctly connected to the selected driver profile", which I'm hoping actually means "seat position for a selected driver profile actually works", which up until now it hasnt!

To give them credit, the digital key problems I had at first seem to have been resolved, and there are some good updates listed. I think the comment about architectural changes is valid too, I got an email about a 2026 GPU upgrade, and saw something about MY26 having a better platform, so clearly seems there are some significant strategic changes underway.

Looking forward to seeing other comments on this update too
