Sorry, the display was such, I assumed it is an Apple product. It actually said on the display that it is compatible with an Apple phone. My error. That is an oura ring. Not at all an Apple product.
What kind of "specialist" was this, because:The service had a "specialist" sit with me to problem solve. It took 30 mins or so to find the solution, which hopefully will work when I get my car back. It turns out that Android update added Gemini to the phone, it is an assist like function, but conflicts with the Google assist in the vehicle. We had to figure out how to turn off Gemini and restore Google assist in the car. Now, at least, I am more comfortable using the loaner, since I can use the phone handsfree in it. Please do not tell me to get a compatible phone!
You know, I will not argue with you. I am simply explaining what happened, if it helps anyone else, that would be great! I am not in the habit of lying. What kind of "specialist" was this, because:
I've had Gemini as my primary assistant since before taking delivery of our P3 (or the subsequent loaners) and have had no ill effects with Google Assistant functions in any of the cars. Gemini is Google, and is intended to essentially replace Google Assistant.
- The car has Google Assistant, not Gemini (for now).
- Having Gemini running on your phone as the assistant does NOT impact the Google Assistant functions on the car.
I agree, but none of that means they need to accelerate their release cycle beyond what it has been in the past. The double-edged sword that OEMs are facing is they're trying to keep up with rapidly advancing tech in a heavily regulated, disjointed industry, with an immensely complicated product. They absolutely have some catching up to do, and cycle timing aside I expect the post Orin update to be huge.Cool that you’ve had three Polestars, I’ve had five Volvos (even picked one up at the Gothenburg factory and drove it around for a month before it shipped to the USA). So, I’m also familiar with the past software update cycle. The difference today vs 2021 is Polestar publicly refers to the P3 as, “lead(ing) the way as the first European software-defined vehicle” (SDVs). They are trying to claim a differentiated market position. Aside from stability issues (recently described as a "dumpster fire inside a train wreck"), you and I both know there are basic features that your 2021 Polestar 2 had that are still not available on the P3. So, if Polestar really wants to claim they’re leading the way, rapid technological/software advancements in their flagship SDV need to happen more quickly than in 2021. And I want them before my lease expires![]()
You and me both... and hopefully with more than a few months left. And I want them before my lease expires![]()

The are not catching up with a rapidly advancing technology, they released a product that was not adequately tested. I thought that the P3 had been in use in Europe, etc., for a periods of time to shake out problems before being offered in the USA. Do not blame the problems on regulations! That is nonsense, what part of not being able to get into my car and drive it with the provided fob is a regulatory issue?I agree, but none of that means they need to accelerate their release cycle beyond what it has been in the past. Their release plan reminds me of Google's Pixel Drop release strategy, which I'm fine with, but if they just crank out some simple "bugs and fixes" every 3 months I'll be hollering too.

Thanks for being such a sensitive person! Can y’all take this to private messages or something? Or perhaps a mental health professional who can help you work through why it’s so important to have the last word? Sheesh 🙄
Anyways…………Whenever someone gets the OTA, feel free to PM me a link to the message in this thread so I don’t have to click through 5 pages of irrelevancy tysm stay calm and blessed fellow Polestar geeks 🤓
Or just lock it. I started a fresh discussion thread here... Software Update 1.4.12 (Discussion 2.0)@stevelup and @krheinwald can we get this thread split into two separate ones?
Mine isnt showing it as an option for my PS3. I'm very excited for the "Fix for seat position so that it is now correctly connected to the selected driver profile", which I'm hoping actually means "seat position for a selected driver profile actually works", which up until now it hasnt!Anyone have it installed yet?
