Success. Got it working! 😁

  • Went into system, apps, tidal. Removed data, then removed the app.
  • did an infotainment reboot.
  • reinstalled tidal.

The Dolby icon stays on, sounds amazing. What a difference!

If I go into sound settings I’m told it’s not available while playing Atmos content.

😊. Thank you! 👍
I'm having the same issue. I have had Dolby Atmos working via Tidal for months before this happened. Now Atmos song will only show its dolby atmos sign for a few second before its dissappear.

Have tried your steps above with no success. I just did hard reset and let's see tomorrow if issue is solved.

Some others claimed that Amazon music was also now supporting Dolby Atmos, however I'm not so sure. I have Amazon music, and while there are songs and playlists labelled as Dolby Atmos, they don't seem to be recognized as such by the car.

In Tidal, when playing a Dolby Atmos track, most of the sound settings are locked out. This does not happen in Amazon Music.
You have to switch Dolby atmos and high quality on the Amazon Music apps setting. If you do that it works fine, Pink Floyd’s clocks for example plays the various clocks and chimes all over the speakers.

Here’s a screenshot from my car showing atmos working in Amazon Music. It does require a Prime Unlimited subscription (paid upgrade to basic Prime). A few days ago it stopped working - entertainment reset did not help but weirdly a hard reset did fix it!

I find Amazon Music to be generally a better implementation than Tidal, which frequently refuses to load / display anything.

To be clear, it has to show the Atmos logo on the now playing screen - if this shows you can confirm atmos is working by going to the sound settings as others have described. If the logo doesn’t show, it’s not actually playing atmos.

The only downside to Amazon seems to be actually searching for Atmos songs. It just returns the one playlist. Whereas Tidal, you could search for any song + "Dolby Atmos", and if there is a DA version of that song it would find it. Amazon doesn't seem to do that.
