This is the first OTA since I've had the car so got a bit worried when about 10 mins after starting the rear lights and brake lights all came on for about 30 mins. But they just went off and my phone got a notification asking to complete setup of CarPlay :)
Have you been driving a lot today, or had it been downloaded in the background whilst parked?

Software updates | Volvo Support EN-CA

Updates in software 1.2.6
Software release date: February 10, 2025.
Note
This update will be available as an over-the-air download about three weeks after the software release date.
Wireless Apple CarPlay
Apple CarPlay gives you another way of using your iPhone via the vehicle's interface. You can use certain communication, navigation and media apps on your iPhone via the center display, as well as the steering wheel buttons and voice control.
Connect your iPhone to the vehicle via Bluetooth and activate Apple CarPlay. After setting up CarPlay for the first time, it automatically starts when you connect your phone via Bluetooth again.
Digital Key
Digital key is available for compatible Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel devices. To set up a new digital key, navigate to the owner profile in the center display, select Car Keys and Set up digital key. Then scan the QR code using your device and follow the link that appears.
You can also share a key across platforms, such as between compatible Android and Apple devices. Remember to check the compatibility of your device on the manufacturer's website and whether this feature is available in your market.
Vehicle Locator
You can use the Volvo Cars app to find your vehicle, if you leave it in a large parking lot, for example, by flashing the lights and sounding the horn remotely. Availability may depend on your region.
Improvements
You can now turn the center display off for cleaning.
If you have a distance-capable key on you, the vehicle will lock automatically when you walk away from it. There are also improvements to automatic unlocking when you approach the vehicle.
You can adjust the light intensity in the center display, and the settings will be stored for the next driving cycle.
After you’ve turned it on, the wireless charger will stay on until you turn if off manually.
The trunk hatch won’t close while you're unloading things from the trunk.
Heat status for the steering wheel and seat heating is now shown correctly in the center display.
It’s now possible to use the Bowers and Wilkins (B & W) app in the vehicle.
The initial wiper stroke has been removed.
The operational range for the forward collision warning system has been expanded to account for vehicles moving perpendicular to the vehicle, and it can engage autonomous braking when both vehicles are moving at speeds between 40 and 60 km/h. This change does not affect compliance with any certification regulations.
This update also contains some minor improvements and fixes. Including improvements to:
  • Hands-off detection and lane change graphics for Pilot Assist
  • Bluetooth and phone connection stability
  • Sounds in the vehicle
  • Gear shifting at low speeds
  • Messages for the Advanced Driver Assistance System's (ADAS) Rear Auto Brake when driving in the dark
  • AC charging
  • General stability and performance of climate and interior lights
  • General stability
And fixes to:
  • Widgets for the map or media apps not appearing in the center display
  • Rearview mirror auto dimming
  • The map remaining visible in the center display when selected
  • Faulty warning notification for rain sensor
  • The contextual bar in the center display
  • Third-row seat folding

I've complained on the official Polestar forum about the lack of detail in the release notes. Looks like Volvo does a better job but there is still quite a bit under general stability and the like. What's the point in telling me there are audio improvements if I have no idea what that might mean? I shouldn't have to go play with the seats and the steering wheel to figure out what they might have changed. It's ridiculous.

Yeah, that's been a regular thing, starting with the Polestar 2 updates from 3+ years ago. It's unclear to me why they differentiate the notes in the way they do.

Mine was installed at service center earlier today. Car was in for charger fix anyway.

Can confirm CarPlay works and finally adds Atmos and better stereo quality than Bluetooth.

Walk-away locking also works finally bringing my shiny new Polestar on par with our long gone 2013 Beetle 🥹

Haven’t had time to test anything else and it’s too soon to tell if ghost passenger and other minor bugs are fixed yet.

Was streering wheel control functionality (music & volume) added ?

Unfortunately no, the list is still long. And digital key setup for android kept failing on me.

Another bug, if you put to Drive and then Park, the screen cleaning button still greyed out. This seems to be the same bug as exterior lights which you cannot turn off after driving unless you open the driver door first.

Because who does that, right? Drive the car, park it, and then clean the screen. Or drive the car and wait for someone outside without having to drain your battery or blind anyone nearby with your lights.

Can someone at Polestar HQ lend the supervisors of the software development team P3s to drive home. jeez. These bugs are not edge cases. there seems to be a real disconnect between the software development and robust validation of their 'improvements.'

I assume the update didn't include the ability to auto-tilt the mirrors down in Reverse, like the P*2 already has?

Do you really still need this when the 360 camera automatically comes on when reversing? Easy enough to see a kerb or any obstacles in the way!
