When Will Polestar Offer a Winter Wheel Pack?

People often vent their gripes with their car on these forums, and my biggest (only) one would definitely have to be the lack of a winter tire/wheel package. My 2022 Polestar 2 with Performance Package came with 20” low-profile, run flat, “summer” tires. Ask any tire shop and they’ll tell you that these things are a real nightmare to swap on and off every season. Therefore, I looked into getting a second set of wheels for my winter tires and discovered that nobody makes an aftermarket set that truly fits properly. A second factory set would run me $6500. Insane. I decided to roll the dice and bring my car to a local Town Fair Tire. Of course I let them know the value of the rims, but they still wound up scratching the lip on all four. I got all four reburbushed (they paid the bill) and spoke to my local Polestar dealership before the new seasonal tire swap needed to be performed. The dealership told me they had a “touchless” tire changing machine and that they would be able to do the swap every season without damaging the rims - for $260! I bit the bullet and went with them. Guess what - they scratched 3 out of 4 rims! Awesome. I complained to corporate and got a second set of factory wheels for $4000. Still crazy expensive but better than the $6500 original price. Anyhow, the situation is crappy regardless, but at least now I can do the tire changes myself each season.

Just curious what y’all out there in my situation do. The guy at the rim refurbishing place said that “touchless” tire changing machines don’t exist that that wheels need to be taped off and worked on by a tech that cares or they’ll inevitably get destroyed over time. He also does not recommend using aftermarket wheels that don’t fit properly - it’s really asking for trouble.

Why can’t Polestar just make a winter tire/wheel pack? It would save everyone time and trouble and prevent folks like me from constantly bitching and complaining to them!

I had the same issue finding a winter set although I have 19's.

I got these Fast wheels and think they look great. Only things to know is you'll need hub rings and "tuner" nuts (each provided by the place I got them: www.canadawheels.ca).

Plenty of options if you have 19 inch wheels but I feel your pain when dealing with the brembos.
There are 20 inch Volvo OEM 20x8 wheels that have a 52.5mm offset which are an extremely close fit and should do well for snows.

Personally running a square setup in the winter months with 18x7.5 Volvo wheels that I purchased as new takeoffs from eBay. Works like a charm and was very affordable (500 for the set including shipping as they had minor scratches from whoever took them off a brand new car).

I think this is the rub. If you take it literally that is probably correct as ps is using 20x8 and 20x9 wheels with different offsets front vs back. (50 vs 53mm I think).

To find that match is probably elusive but if you accept for example a 20x8 with a 50mm offset front and rear your choices probably increase.

in Norway i got mine in december with two wheel sets summer+winter as deal pack.
from january they started to offer 4WD at the price of the RWD, but no winter tyres included.
i have the feeling that maybe it was a better offer from a money POW, but not so much if you consider practicality

In Germany you can buy the winter wheel pack from polestar. It costs 2.300 € for 19 inches, 2.900 € for the 20 inches and 3.750 € for the performance 20 inches. I did get the winter wheel pack with the 19 inches and have them stored in Euromaster, where they swap it for me in autumn and spring time. Pretty easy and convenient.

I have the Launch Edition with 20" rims, the non-performance pack version which resemble the Polestar 1 rims. These came with all season tires (Michelin 245/40 R20 Primacy Tour A/S). The only OEM all-season option at the time.

My CPO came with a set of snow tires installed on the stock 19" wheels so I had to set myself up with a set of summer wheels.

I did a lot of research and found plenty of 19x8.5" wheels that fit. Some needed hub rings - which is totally fine - and some had the correct centre bore.

Settled on these totally awesome OZ Racing Rally wheels in black - and yes they will clear the perfomance Brembo brakes:
