That is so cool that the PS logo is back! You were right about being given PS3 loaners by the Boston space - I was given a PPP with all of 59 miles on it. But it's a SC US build, with a 10/24 date. So guaranteed to blow the GHCA. Hopefully not before I get mine back 😂

And now the second loaner can't get the digital key to initialize and Polestar has tried several remote fixes....and in doing those fixes introduced a new problem. Now, even though I'm logged into my Google account, the Play Store doesn't work. If you click on it, the screen just flickers and reverts back to the home screen.

So awesome! 😐

But hey, at least we did have one loaner that worked as intended for the 2 months we had it.

89 total days of the car being in the shop. Will we break 100 days?! We're inching toward 1/3rd of our ownership seeing the car in the shop.

On the upside, the second replacement GHCA now has a fulfillment date and might finally get to the shop next week or the week after.

Oh, and that second loaner finally got the digital key working today, after a million attempts and Polestar getting involved remotely late last week (which didn't resolve it).

Can you point me to how to find out whether mine is an SC build and what the build date is? Is there a VIN lookup somewhere?

Glad the digital key is working now and that you have a fulfillment date! My shop told me just today that they don't have a date yet, so maybe they're rolling them out in batches...?

Curious what software version that loaner is on. .18, I presume?

Yep, 1.3.18

Polestar received my 3 from the towing company mid-morning today. They arranged a "Luxury SUV" rental for me via Hertz, but I ended up in a Camry that doesn't even have smart entry because my local Hertz fleet is garbage. The Hertz rep had me wait 3 days to pick up mid-afternoon, and that's what I ended up with after they were going to give me a Pathfinder (the Nissan brand is unsafe garbage) and then I was going to settle for a Tuscon, but it smelled like someone was actively smoking in it... Polestar CS said they would attempt to get me something nicer via their Hertz team, or I could get my own car from another rental company and they would reimburse me $80/day. Since they have no idea how long it will be until I get mine back, I'm trying to be in something half-decent... Really wish they had sent me a loaner 2 or 3 instead of having to deal with this myself...

96 total days in the shop. Check-in today and was told the part should be in the shop sometime between the 16th and 19th. I'm a little suspicious of that, since they typically have a better sense of where parts are in the chain once they've been received by the distribution hub.

@nbvolks I just got word from the dealer in Denver that my new GHCA has arrived and they'll be installing it this week. They said they should have it wrapped up before the end of the week. I asked them to confirm that the part is from the new batch/supplier (based on your earlier comment and the timing, I'm presuming it is). I know you just posted 2 days ago, but has your dealer updated you on your new GHCA yet? Really pulling for you to get it back ASAP and with no further issues. Such a bummer it's been such a bad experience for you (and, honestly, so many of us).

He replied and said, "That was an issue with the old distributor of this part, we haven't seen any issues with the new distributor." I'm going to leave it at that and hope that it truly is a long-term fix.

Today marks 100 total days...

Knowing today would happen, I spent part of the day yesterday communicating with Polestar US, about next steps. At this point they've initiated the lease buyout process and will present the options in the next 4-6 weeks. With that in mind, I think ( I don't know) our options might be....

1. We get our car back and keep it, because at least we know it has the newest (hopefully) GHCA and the recall work is done. But....maybe this car is just not a good car specifically, and we'll be right back in again for something else.

2. We swap for an identical car pulled from stock. Upside is that it would be a newer build. Downside is that we'd be taking on a new mystery of potential issues.

3. We already have a P4 on order. That was supposed to be the car we got, but when it was delayed for the US, we went with a P3. So we just hold onto our P3 (or the loaner) and then redo and adjust our lease into the P4 we have on order.

4. We just take the buyout and walk away and go to another brand. Downside there is that there could be unforeseen issues with that too. Options we've mulled over:
  • Porsche Macan (smaller backseat area, but can be similarly spec'd for the price)
  • Porsche Taycan Cross-Turismo (smaller backseat area, but MUCH more expensive. Very cool though!)
  • Lucid Gravity (Higher price, plenty of room and functionality. I don't love the exterior shape and design.)
  • Cadillac Lyriq V-Edition (I like it, my wife cannot get past the Cadillac brand. I don't like the front seats or the interior color options)
  • Volkswagen ID.Buzz (VERY different vehicle. It's fun looking and drives well. Interior materials are not great. Dealer lease pricing is RIDICULOUS!)

FWIW, I’d take another P3,

… but I confess that I’m really intrigued by the ID Buzz and wish I was younger and with a larger family!

[Cadillac??!! 😱]

Although when I was a young boy an uncle of mine had a stretched Cadillac from the ‘50s with seats that folded out from the front seat bench and faced rearwards. He, a chauffeur and six others would drive up 600 miles to (then) Bombay - leaving my mother to cope with guests for a couple of days with no prior warning.

Yes we had phones but it didn’t occur to anyone to check in advance when “just visiting family after all”. 😊

So very frustrating @nbvolks. And that GHCA backorder botch is icing on the cake now. 😡 The 4 would be awesome. I haven't had the car for as long as you, so I can't say what I'd do if I were you.

But mine has been in service for about 24 days now (less than the 30 needed to get out of the lease), and if all goes to plan, the transport company will be bringing it back this weekend. My lease is relatively short, so I'm still planning on keeping it even if it goes back in the shop again, then making the decision to swap at the end of the lease. Polestar Denver Service has been really good, communicative, and have hit all the timeline estimates they've been able to give so far, although they obviously couldn't give a timeline for the back ordered part, so the time waiting for that was unknown until the part actually arrived.

Good luck with whatever you decide! Your posts on here have been tremendously helpful, so I'm hoping you stick with Polestar! 😁 But, if not Polestar, I'd hands-down do the Lucid if I could justify the price (my buddy is a director of powertrain engineering there, a former Ferrari F1 guy). They're incredible.

Regardless, thank you for your input, advice, and posts on here.

Yeah, so the only real reason for the ID.Buzz on the list is because my first car, which I still have, is a '74 brilliant orange Beetle. So having an orange ID.Buzz would be a bit of a fun car to have for a little bit on lease. But we otherwise don't need what's really a minivan. We're a family of 4 that usually packs light, so we've never needed overly large vehicles. Also a little annoying that the US ones don't get a heat pump, and that the 1st Editions lack the HUD and heated windshield that come on the identically spec'd Pro Plus version. Oh, and the reverse camera is absolute garbage.

CO based ‘Out of Spec Reviews’ has good things to say about Polestar out there. They good reviews but very wordy. They could really do more aggressive editing!
